Hi, I’m Elizabeth!

My work explores everyday experiences and ordinary moments through oil painting. It is in these quiet, everyday situations that I find something worth holding onto. I use my camera to record these moments as they happen, so that they can be returned to later. As a moment becomes an image, the image then becomes a painting.My work begins with photographs taken from my daily surroundings. I am not interested in changing or embellishing what I see; instead, I focus on translating the image as it is. The moment itself feels enough.The scenes I choose are often uneventful, but through painting them, I aim to give them a sense of presence. What may seem insignificant at first begins to hold more weight simply through being observed and carefully translated. The paintings remain open in their meaning, allowing space for the viewer to interpret what they see. What matters is not what is added, but what is already there, and the act of taking the time to notice it.
